GCAA Congratulates Joseph Bukari Nikpe on Transport Minister Appointment

ACCRA, Ghana (AP) – The Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has congratulated Joseph Bukari Nikpe on his appointment as Minister for Transport by President John Dramani Mahama. The appointment was formalized during a brief ceremony at the Jubilee House on Friday, Feb. 7, 2025.
He is the Member of Parliament for Saboba Constituency in the Northern Region of Ghana.
The GCAA, which oversees Ghana’s aviation sector, welcomed the new leadership and expressed its commitment to working closely with the minister to improve the country’s transport infrastructure, air travel safety, and modernization efforts.
Experienced Leadership for a Growing Transport Sector
Hon. Nikpe, a seasoned public servant and policy expert, brings extensive experience in governance, policy development, and transport management. Born in Saboba in the Northern Region, he has dedicated much of his career to national development. His academic credentials include:
- Bachelor of Education in Technology, University of Education, Winneba
- Certificate in Citizen Participation in Local Governance, The Hague Academy for Local Governance
- Master of Arts in Gender, Peace, and Security, Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre
- Degree in Transport Management
His appointment comes at a critical time as Ghana seeks to expand and modernize its transportation network, particularly in aviation, which is a key driver of economic growth, trade, and tourism.
