IIA Ghana Pays Courtesy Call on GCAA Director-General to Mark 25th Anniversary

The Institute of Internal Auditors Ghana (IIA Ghana) has paid a courtesy call on the Director-General of the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), Rev. Stephen Wilfred Arthur, to officially inform him of the Institute’s 25th anniversary milestone and invite the Authority’s management, board, and members to participate in its anniversary conference.

The visit, which took place on Wednesday, 23 September 2026, underscored the long-standing cordial and collaborative relationship between the two institutions and the importance of continued cooperation in promoting sound internal auditing and good governance.

Speaking during the visit, the President of IIA Ghana, Mr. Ebenezer Kwadwo Omari-Mireku, said the Institute considered it culturally appropriate to visit the GCAA in person, given the longstanding relationship between the two organisations.

He explained that the visit was intended to formally inform the Director-General and his management team about the anniversary milestone while extending an invitation to the Authority’s management and board to attend and support the Institute’s anniversary activities.

Mr. Omari-Mireku expressed appreciation to Rev. Arthur for his continued support for internal auditors at the GCAA. He also commended GCAA members of the Institute for their active participation in and contributions to IIA Ghana’s programmes and activities.

Responding, the Director-General of the GCAA, Rev. Stephen Wilfred Arthur, reaffirmed the Authority’s appreciation for the work of its internal auditors, emphasising their role in strengthening good governance and contributing to the Authority’s long-term sustainability and institutional effectiveness.

He assured the delegation that the GCAA would continue to support the work of IIA Ghana and maintain the strong collaboration that has characterised the relationship between the two institutions over the years.

Rev. Arthur congratulated the Institute on attaining its 25th anniversary milestone and wished IIA Ghana continued growth, success, and greater achievements in the years ahead.

The courtesy call was part of IIA Ghana’s activities to commemorate its 25th anniversary, celebrate the Institute’s contributions to the internal auditing profession, and highlight its partnerships with institutions committed to strengthening governance and accountability in Ghana.

The Institute was formally registered in Ghana in April 2001 under the Professional Bodies Registration Decree, 1973 (NRCD 143), as a professional association dedicated to promoting and developing the practice of internal auditing in Ghana.
