GCAA Certifies Ghana’s First Helicopter Flying Club
At a special ceremony in Accra, Ghana’s Minister for Aviation, Mr. Joseph Kofi Adda (middle), presented an Operator’s Certificate to Mr. Theo Ayitey-Adjin (right), co-founder of Heli Flying Club, a non-profit organization established to provide its members with affordable access to aircraft.
As part of the certification process, Heli Flying Club, the first in the country, fulfilled various requirements outlined by Aviation Safety Inspectors from the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), including the conduct of a demonstration flight.
Commending Mr. Ayitey-Adjin and his partner, Mr. Jose Reynaert (left), for their cooperation throughout the process, the Director-General of GCAA, Ing. Simon Allotey (far left), stressed the importance of compliance with the aviation regulator’s directives as well as the Standards and Recommended Practices (SAPRS) of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO).
Minister Adda recognized that youth involvement played a crucial role in the sustainability of the aviation industry, and thanked the founders of Heli Flying Club for their vision.
Present at the ceremony were the Deputy Minister for Aviation, Mr. Yaw Afful (far right), officials from the Ministry, and GCAA staff.
