The Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, on Thursday, 14th May 2026, held a colourful Cultural Showcase as part of activities marking its 40th Anniversary celebrations, bringing together Board members, management, staff, retirees, and traditional leaders in a grand display of Ghana\u2019s rich cultural heritage and diversity.<\/p>\n

The event, which featured traditional cooking, drumming, dancing, singing, storytelling, and cultural exhibitions, served as a platform to celebrate the Authority\u2019s commitment to unity, inclusiveness, and mutual respect among its workforce drawn from all parts of the country.<\/p>\n

Delivering the opening remarks, Director-General of GCAA, Rev. Stephen Wilfred Arthur described the occasion as \u201ca beautiful and memorable day\u201d in the history of the Authority, emphasising that Ghana\u2019s cultural diversity remains one of the nation\u2019s greatest strengths.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs part of our 40th Anniversary celebrations, we have chosen to dedicate this occasion to showcasing the rich heritage, traditions, and identities that make up the vibrant mosaic of Ghana and beyond,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

Rev. Arthur expressed pride at the sight of staff dressed in traditional attire representing various ethnic groups and cultures, noting that Ghana\u2019s many languages, customs, and traditions continue to coexist harmoniously.<\/p>\n

He stressed that the cultural activities were not merely for entertainment, but a reminder of the importance of preserving Ghana\u2019s heritage and passing on cherished values and traditions to future generations.<\/p>\n

According to him, diversity and mutual respect are essential ingredients for a peaceful and productive corporate environment, especially in an institution as strategic as the GCAA.<\/p>\n

\u201cDiversity must not be seen as a barrier, but as a source of innovation, creativity, and collective strength,\u201d he said. \u201cWhen we learn about each other\u2019s cultures, we break down stereotypes, build friendships, deepen understanding, and create a stronger spirit of togetherness.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also commended the Planning Committee, departments, organisers, participants and the media for their dedication and enthusiasm in making the event successful.<\/p>\n

Board Chair of the GCAA, Ing. Simon Molai Allotey, in his remarks, underscored the importance of unity, diversity, and inclusivity within the Authority. He noted that GCAA staff come from all 16 regions of Ghana, speak different languages, and represent diverse cultural backgrounds, reflecting the Authority\u2019s core values.<\/p>\n

Mr. Allotey also expressed profound appreciation to Okatakyi Komeh VIII, a member of the GCAA Board, who graced the occasion with his traditional entourage and thrilled participants with a splendid cultural performance that added colour and prestige to the celebration.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the event, Okatakyi Komeh VIII encouraged Ghanaians to take pride in their indigenous languages and cultures, urging citizens not to neglect their mother tongues in favour of English.<\/p>\n

He further advised the youth to uphold respect for the elderly and avoid using social media platforms to insult older generations.<\/p>\n
