A nine-member team of the Board of Directors of the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) ended a 5-day working visit to the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority.<\/p>\n

The team led by the Board Chairman of the UCAA, Hon. Justice Steven Kavuma was in the Country to learn more about Ghana\u2019s thriving aviation industry and to benchmark the country\u2019s air transport successes.<\/p>\n

At a special board meeting held by the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) to welcome their counterpart from Uganda, the chairman of the board of GCAA, Capt. Powis Spencer expressed his excitement and commended the bold decision taken by the board of the UCAA to visit Ghana and to learn about GCAA\u2019s successes chalked over the years.<\/p>\n

He stated that Ghana\u2019s aviation industry had gone through its own challenges over the decades but attributed the phenomenon growth to the robust regulatory framework adopted by the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, backed by the government’s innovative policies and the support of industry stakeholders.<\/p>\n

Adding that \u201cour stance on Safety and Security as a regulator has kept Ghana\u2019s aviation industry as one of the best in the African region and I implore your team to adopt similar measures to also safeguard the aviation industry in Uganda.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n

On Ghana\u2019s proving record in the provision of air navigation services, the board chairman stated that Ghana continues to set high professional benchmarks in air traffic service delivery within the Accra Flight Information Region(FIR) which makes Ghana\u2019s airspace one of the safest in Africa.<\/p>\n

Capt. Spencer further touted GCAA\u2019s leadership role in assisting states like Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Guinea to resolve critical aviation Safety deficiencies as well as assisting the Republic of Guyana to inspect its first Helideck on an oil rig.<\/p>\n

He further revealed that the GCAA was in close collaboration with the Ministry of Transport and the Ghana Airports Company (GACL) to expand critical aviation infrastructure to meet the travel needs of both domestic and international travels in the country.<\/p>\n

The GCAA\u2019s board Chairman reiterated Ghana\u2019s Effective Implementation (EI) score of 89.89%, one of the highest by an African Country, after the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) concluded its coordinated Validation Mission (ICVM) in April 2019.<\/p>\n

On his part, the leader and Board Chairman of the visiting team from the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) commended the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority\u2019s leadership role in the aviation industry worldwide and applauded Ghana\u2019s recent election onto the ICAO\u2019s council.<\/p>\n

He stated that Ghana\u2019s exemplary leadership was worth emulating by all, especially those within Africa who are focused on sustaining their aviation industry.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe chose Ghana to benchmark after careful consideration, and I can say that we have not regretted making such a decision. Your aviation industry has achieved a lot and we are here to learn, and to be able to improve on Uganda\u2019s aviation industry\u2019\u2019.<\/p>\n

He stated that there was a major infrastructural development currently ongoing at the Entebbe International Airport, which upon completion, the terminal building capacity will be enhanced to contain about 3.5 million from its current 2 million annual passenger throughput.<\/p>\n

After the meeting, the members visited the facilities of the Authority, including the Air Traffic Control Centre, Equipment room, Aviation Training Academy, and the Air Traffic Control Tower.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
