GATA'S History

Whichever path you take in aviation, it is essential to start with the right information, that's what GATA stands for.

Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (G.C.A.A) part of its Corporate Strategy established GATA in 2008 as a center of excellence in Aviation knowledge acquisition. it has the state-of-the-Art facilities and systems to provide aviation training in West Africa and beyond.

GATA, using qualified instructors has trained personnel from Liberia, Nigeria, Gambia, Sao Tome etc in Air Traffic Control courses.

It has also trained Aviation Inspectors and other Safety Regulation Personnel in collaboration with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), USAInternational Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and The Banjul Accord Group Aviation Safety Oversight Organization (BAGASOO).

GATA is a convenient place to host aviation related Local, International Conferences, Seminars, Workshops, Meetings, Fairs etc.

GATA was established in 2008 under the Ghana Civil Aviation Sector Upgrade Project (GCASUP) situated at the location of the old air traffic control school, which has been in existence since the late 50s with the mandate to train air traffic control assistants for the then civil aviation department. The old building was remodeled into a modern facility and has a state-of-the-art simulator to train Air traffic controllers for Ghana and the sub-region. GATA as an academy came into operation in 2009 and has since organized various Local and International Aviation courses which has since generated considerable interest among countries in the West African Sub-Region and beyond.

Services We Provide

GATA’s exposure to international and regional aviation programmes and experienced aviation professionals provide us with practical insights into the aviation industry. With this experience, we are able to bring relevant and flexible approach to the design and delivery of bespoke training programmes.

GATA is also a convenient place for rental to host aviation related local and international conferences and seminars and many organisations such as the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) – USA, Banjul Accord Group Aviation Safety Oversight Organisation (BAGASOO), African Civil Aviation Commission (AFCAC) and other local organisations have adopted and used our facility to run many courses for their clients.
