GATA's First International Graduates PDF Print E-mail

The first batch of international students admitted into the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority Training Academy (GATA) have graduated with world class results after eight weeks of intensive training in Air Traffic Control and Aviation Language Proficiency.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony of the first Batch of students from the Liberia Civil Aviation Authority (LCAA), the Director General of the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), Air Cdre Victor K-Mamphey congratulated the graduates and encouraged them to practice what they have learnt and maintain high professional standards in serving their country.

He said “GCAA is proud to be associated with the re-building of vital human capital of the LCAA, particularly in the area of Air Navigation Services. The two countries – Ghana and Liberia are members of the Banjul Accord Group, and so this gesture from GCAA to offer training opportunities to employees of the LCAA is in the spirit of intra-regional collaboration.”

At the recently ended ECOWAS meeting of Directors General of Civil Aviation Authorities, CEOs of Airports, Air Navigation Services and Airlines in Accra, one of the highlights was for Member States to recruit and maintain skilled manpower through the training and retention of air transport experts. The GATA, according to Air Cdre Mamphey will offer strategic support in the sub-region in this regard and make sure that graduates who pass through the academy are always of international quality.

The Accountable Manager of GATA, Mr. Willie Orhin, when congratulating the students said the academy will very soon introduce more aviation programmes into its curricula and improve its facilities as the demand increases.
The Director-General of LCAA who was present for the ceremony, Mr Richelieu Williams, said as Liberians rebuild the country, the aviation industry is one of the key areas of the Liberian economy, hence the training for their employees.
