PRESIDENT VISITS CRASH SITE AND ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION COMMITTEE INAUGURATED
Following the accident involving the Allied Air Cargo Aircraft on Saturday, 2nd June, 2012 at the Kotoka International Airport, the President, His Excellency John Evans Atta Mills visited the crash site and the Airport Clinic where the four man crew of the aircraft are recuperating after the accident. He also visited the Emergency Operation Centre (EOC). During his interaction with the EOC, the President expressed his sorrow for the loss of lives and extended his condolences to the bereaved families. Meanwhile, in line with International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) requirements and Ghana Civil Aviation Act 678 of 2004, Honourable Alhaji Collins Dauda, Minister for Transport has inaugurated an Accident Investigation Committee to determine the cause of the accident. The Accident Investigation Committee is a five-man team headed by Captain Alec Grant Sam, the Investigator-In-Charge, whose responsibilities include establishing the cause of the accident and making recommendations to forestall any future occurrences The general public is advised that the road between Elwak traffic light and the Burma Camp Shell filling station still remains closed until further notice.
